GRIEVANCES

With in the union contract is the procedure to file a grievance.

This language can be complicated.

To help the members within this link is a step by step grievance procedures

MOST IMPORTANT IF YOU DON'T KNOW ASK ONE OF THE UNION STEWARD/CHIEF STEWARDS  FOR DIRECTION

When there is a violation of the collective agreement by a management you:

  1. Go to the manager regarding the issue or complaint, attempt to resolve the issue on your own IMPORTANT POINT IS: THAT YOU MUST GO TO THE EMPLOYER WITHIN 10 OF THE OCCURANCE
  2. If no resolution, contact the union a grievance must be filed within 5 buisness days after you recieve an unsatisfactory reply to the complaint.
  3. Once the grievance is filed the employer, employee and the union rep can request further meeting between the parties
  4. Each step  has to be followed and replied to as per the collective agreement:  
  • step 1 submit within 5 days. Employer has 10 days to reply
  • step 2 if not resolved submit. Employer has 10days to reply
  • step 3 if not resolved submit to  mediation, then to Arbitration.
